The Obsidian Arts Collective Multi-Cast Approach

At Obsidian Arts Collective, we celebrate the richness of Black stories, voices, and talent. Our multi-cast model embodies that commitment—bringing productions like The Color Purple to life with greater depth, diversity, and artistry.

In a field where actors often hear “no,” we choose to be the stage that says “yes.” By casting two principal ensembles and a dedicated chorus ensemble, we create more opportunities for artists to step into their power, showcase their gifts, and expand what’s possible in our community.

We don’t define our casts as “A and B” or “main and understudy.” Instead, we proudly present:
