A partnership between CRCA, Bella Musica Music Studio and The Sketching Pad providing a summer arts enrichment program for 5 – 12 year olds typically held for a week during June.  Students enjoy drawing, painting, sculpting, music, and theater.

Black Heritage of Rockdale

A partnership between CRCA and Black Heritage of Rockdale County and others to preserve the stories and history of the Conyers and Rockdale County community.  Past programs have included: The Black Side of Rockdale County History: An Interactive Experience, Hidden In Plain Sight: Uncovering Black History in Rockdale County 2.0, Black Heritage of Rockdale County Program & Black Heritage Hall of Fame Inductions, Embracing the History Around Us: Housing in the JP Carr Community. Pulitzer-prize winning journalist E.R. Shipp, a Rockdale County native, has been a frequent mediator and speaker for the program. 

CRCA Black Box Theater

CRCA Black Box Theater is a 2,500 square foot facility that features an intimate 83 seat theater, with a stage area, area behind the stage, small upstairs dressing room, lighting and tech booth, concession stand, and restrooms.  A place for live theater performances, concerts, art exhibits and more!

Inspiration Theater is a program of theatrical performances, community outreach and community education to inspire awareness, discourse, and ultimately positive social change.

Music Performance & Education Program

 

The Music Performance & Education Program is new to CRCA and is still in the development stage. Right now it consists of two subprograms – a Jazz Series and the CRCA Veterans Music Project.

Preschool+Pops: Children’s Performance Series for All Ages

Preschool+Pops

CRCA brings puppeteers, storytellers, jugglers and other children’s performers for kids of all ages to enjoy.  Typical dates are March and April.

Public Art

Mural on the Green Picture

CRCA has embarked on an extensive Public Art Program.  Beginning with the “Arts In Motion” mural on the back of the CRCA building at 910 Center St, CRCA continued with the restoration of the “ghost” murals on the Pointe building in Olde Town Conyers.  The Beautiful Box Project brightens up numerous areas around the city by painting utility boxes at intersections.  There is a beautiful butterfly and tree mural in the entryway of the CRCA building.  The Mural on the Green at 941 S Main St proclaiming “Greetings From Conyers” was completed in July 2020 and dedicated in October 2020.  CRCA, Big Haynes Creek Nature Center and The Sketching Pad created the “Spread Your Wings and Fly” bird blind art installation on the Purple Trail in the Nature Center from March-April 2024.

Judged contest for Rockdale County Public School (RCPS) students which introduces them to photography & encourages them to explore their creativity & the artistry of the medium. Photos will be put on display at Conyers City Hall. This contest is a partnership between CRCA, City of Conyers, Conyers Cherry Blossom Festival & RCPS.

Theatre Out of the Box

Theatre Out of the Box is a program developed for our local community with special abilities.  Theatre Out of the Box teaches theater stagecraft, acting, and singing and gives participants the opportunity to put on a live performance at the end of the course.
