When a world-famous tenor scheduled for one night at a Cleveland Opera company is through a series of crazy mishaps unable to perform, a star-stuck assistant is frantically recruited to salvage the evening in his place. Soon the company manager has two opera singers in identical costumes running around with two infatuated women in hot pursuit. Like a fast-paced, Marx Brothers-type screwball comedy, this show is guaranteed to have you shouting “Bravo” with laughter.

Everything In New York Goes BANG! Written and Performed by Robert Galinsky
About the Show – Joe Trentacosta Public Relations
In Everything in New York Goes BANG! Galinsky reveals his unconventional journey from the quiet, manicured lawns of suburban Connecticut to the edgy, avant-garde streets of Downtown New York City, and cuts deep into the flesh of America’s ongoing struggle with social injustice, particularly the systemic persecution of our most traumatized youth.
His account moves us from the vibrant energy of New York’s Lower East Side in the ’80s to the shadowy corridors of the infamous Rikers Island Jail, where he found himself exiled and silenced in 2022. Yet even as he confronts the injustices faced by his incarcerated students, he speaks with humor and joy, infusing his performance with a playful, almost mischievous energy. Galinsky masterfully channels a chorus of voices, blending storytelling with iconic poetry that echoes the bebop cadence of Charlie Parker and wields the sharp, cutting edge of the Beat poets, slicing through the facade of a city that never sleeps but often forgets.
But beneath the musicality and the wordplay lies a deeper, more harrowing truth — a truth about a society that has turned its back on its most vulnerable, our young people, born into distress and adversity, too often written off before they’ve had a chance to rise. BANG! is a stark reminder of the failures of a system that punishes instead of redeems, that traps instead of frees.
Over the course of this 60-minute production, an ongoing conversation with his mother also unfolds, with her voice intricately woven throughout the performance. Her guidance, astonishment at her son’s stories, and unwavering love provide a counterpoint to the intensity of the subject matter. Through her, we hear echoes of a mother’s wisdom and, at times, her exasperation, grounding the story in a deeply personal and relatable context.
In this show, Galinsky doesn’t just tell HIS story — he tells the story of all those who have been pushed to the margins and deserve a chance at redemption. BANG! is a call to bear witness and a testament to resilience, challenging a society that has too often chosen to look away. Everything in New York Goes BANG! cries for the recognition that every life, no matter how scarred, has value. And through it all, there is a sense of jubilation, a love of life, and a reminder that even in the darkest moments, there is room for laughter and hope.

Conyers Rockdale Council for the Arts Inspiration Theater is pleased to present: The Bench, A Homeless Love Story
Conyers Rockdale Council for the Arts Inspiration Theater is pleased to present:
Based on true stories and real people, The Bench, set in urban decay and rubble, explores the emotional heartbreak of five homeless characters and the catastrophic hysteria surrounding AIDS in the late 1980’s. It’s solo theater, where one actor plays five characters, written in dialogue form.
“The Bench A Homeless Love Story” takes place in NYC in 1987 and the language and subject matter is taken directly from the streets. Real people experiencing homelessness, giving an authentic and bold look at the issues, the slang, the beliefs, the stigmas and the sentiments of the time. How much has changed since then? How much hasn’t…?
Not recommended for younger audiences.
Read the Aug 1, 2023 ArtsATL article about the show HERE.
“The Bench is a powerful piece that shines a light on the complexity and humanity of people experiencing homelessness. As a performer, I am passionate about supporting projects that exist at the intersection of art and activism, which is why I am honored to present The Bench.” Co-Presenter, Monique Coleman, Human Rights Activist, Actor Disney’s “High School Musical”
“The Bench is the crucial next chapter for younger generations to understand the roots of our societal ills and our collective history centered on housing, pharmacy, family, and the future. We are sparking a long-overdue conversation about how we treat one another, just as Hamilton started a conversation about democracy, The Bench helps us understand and speak with compassion about the most vulnerable in our society. I was fortunate to have success in NY and LA and I am excited to bring The Bench to Conyers, Georgia!” Playwright & Performer, Robert Galinsky
“A slice of life carved from the lower depths. Galinsky brings a wrenching realism to his material.” LA Times

Soon the messy and unconcerned Olive is sharing her untidy place with the obsessively clean and hygiene-obsessed Florence. Olive’s easy-going outlook soon clashes with Florence’s high-strung neuroticism, testing their friendship to the limit. And when Olive organizes a double-date, their differences come to a head and sparks fly.

In Neil Simon’s revision of his own play, the lead characters are now Olive Madison and Florence Unger. Into Olive’s messy apartment Florence arrives, fresh from being dumped by her husband.
