ABOUT THE PLAY
Stop Kiss by Diana Son tells the story of Callie and Sara, two women who fall in love in New York City. Their connection builds quietly, culminating in a first kiss in the West Village that is immediately followed by a brutal, homophobic attack by a bystander. The attack leaves Sara in a coma and forces Callie to confront her own identity, fear, and feelings.
Told through a non-linear timeline that shifts between the development of their relationship and the aftermath of the violent incident, the play explores themes of love, self-discovery, hate crimes, and societal ignorance. Stop Kiss highlights the courage it takes to embrace one’s true self and to love openly in a world that does not always make space for that truth.
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
Callie
A traffic reporter who is comfortable navigating New York City but deeply lonely. She appears settled on the surface, yet is quietly searching for connection, meaning, and herself.
