Kay has studied at Herron School of Art, Atlanta College of Art and under professional artists including Albert Handel, Desmond O’Hagan and Sally Strand.
With a background in oils, she prefers the texture and versatility of pastel applied to various surfaces including acrylic and watercolor under-paintings, sanded paper and her self-made textured surfaces. Sensitivity, inspiration and drama are personified in her works of art.
Kay is a Signature Member of Excellence with the Southeastern Pastel Society, a member of the Portrait Society of Atlanta and an exhibiting artist with Andy Davis at Hood Street, Arts Clayton, BarnBeautiful and Lake Burton Galleries. Her works have been accepted and received awards in national and regional exhibitions as well as many local visual art shows. She is the 2017 Artist of the Year by The National Pen Women, Atlanta Branch.
American Artist Magazine selected her as a featured artist presenting her Pastels of wild animals, “Animal Expression.” Her work has also been published in The Pastel Journal, The International Artist Magazine and the cover of The Southeastern Coast Magazine, “Seabreeze.”
