2012 Sessions

David Stephens
"The Adventures of the Gingerbread Man"
February 7th and 9th, 10am

"Run, run, run as fast as you can," says the star of The Adventures of the Gingerbread Man. In this 40 minute show, you'll follow this little troublemaker as he makes narrow escapes from unsuspecting cookie lovers. You'll also meet Redina, a little red hen who learns how to follow directions in a retelling of the classic story, The Little Red Hen. Friends Gripe and Bicker learn the value of working together when they are granted three wishes in a new version of The Three Wishes. There are lots of characters to meet in this wacky, fun-filled show!

Wendy Bennett
"Alphabet Soup Seconds"
March 6th and 7th, 10am

Stir up some fun and hook pre-readers with this delectable program starring the entire alphabet! With Wendy, they'll learn not just the names of the letters, but the sounds they make. Students will yodel, crow, sing, and wiggle to snappy tunes. Dig into this jam-packed, literacy-building songfest, and you're sure to reach for the letters W-O-W!

Scott Douglas
"Shake, Rattle, and Roll"
March 27th and 29th, 10am

Join Scott Douglas as he transforms the auditorium into an African village in this incredibly interactive program. Children will be delighted as they learn to use dozens of types of instruments including xylophones, drums, cowbells, and even spoons! Douglas will use many songs to help children feel different rhythms, and children will learn to mimic nature noises with their voices! Join us for this rhythmic treat!

Mama Koku
"Seven Continents, Seven Stories"
April 10th and 11th, 10am

In this whirlwind of a program, Mama Koku will perform a traditional interactive folktale from each of the seven continents. For each story, she will wear the traditional garb that was worn when the stories were enjoyed and told by their creators. Children will get to wear "hanging masks" as they become the characters and sing, chant, and echo!

Family Programs

Each year the arts council plans a number of arts events specifically designed for families and children. Our annual programs include the Preschool Pops Series, Drama Camp and ArtSmart Summer Camp which are all geared toward a younger audience.
